SAM – Store and Move Provides Safe Keep for those
who are Recovering Treasured Items

It only took ten seconds for residents in Kenosha County to realize that their lives had been turned upside down – literally. When the tornado touched down last week, Roger Gename, general manager of Barrett Moving & Storage, felt like he had to do something.

Gename and his team quickly contacted the local Chamber of Commerce, sheriff’s department and other organizations to assess the needs of the community. They worked tirelessly over the course of three days to get more than ten SAM - Store and Move containers out to the community. Barrett Moving & Storage donated the SAM – Store and Move containers, an emerging leader in portable moving and storage solutions, as part of the nationwide “SAM Lends a Hand” initiative. SAM – Store and Move dealers across the country have donated countless hours and resources for wildfire relief, toy drives, food drives and other charitable purposes.

Residents used the SAM – Store and Move containers to salvage and store treasured items that were recovered from the disaster. Since many of the residents took shelter in local hotels, there was a tremendous need to store valuable items in a secure location.

“Words can’t describe the feelings we had as we talked to these homeowners who just lost everything – their tears, hugs and stories have simply been overwhelming,” said Gename. “Kenosha is a close-knit community and these SAM – Store and Move containers represent just a small part of the overall camaraderie that we’re seeing among businesses, organizations and individuals.”
