SAM (Store and Move) and WLBK-AM Partner For Annual "Freezin For Food" Campaign

Portable storage containers filled with food, donated to DeKalb County Salvation Army

DEKALB, Ill., Dec. 7, 2006 – More than 13,000 pounds of non-perishable food items and household products were donated by local residents and businesses to the DeKalb County Salvation Army from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 as part of the annual Freezin for Food event, sponsored by WLBK-AM and Sycamore-based SAM, which stands for Store and Move. The generosity of the community helped Freezin for Food exceed its goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of non-perishable items this year.

Terry “TD” Ryan of WLBK-AM camped out at the Target/Aldi’s shopping center in DeKalb, Ill. and broadcasted live each day to encourage listeners to bring donations of non-perishable items to the SAM storage container.

“Freezin for Food was very successful. SAM is a relatively new business in Sycamore and we were excited to partner with WLBK-AM to provide support to an organization as important as the Salvation Army,” said Mike Marchese, owner of Blackhawk Moving & Storage and local SAM dealer. “The SAM container worked perfectly to store the donations and we were able to easily transport the food to the Salvation Army.”

SAM and WLBK-AM have previously partnered to help the DeKalb County Salvation Army by hosting a “Cram the SAM” event in August, encouraging donations of much needed school supplies.

About SAM
The SAM (Store and Move) service is provided through the SAM Support Center located in St. Louis, Mo. and is delivered by a nationwide network of dealers. SAM opened in its first market in January 2006 and will continue to aggressively enter new service areas throughout the United States.

SAM is a convenient and portable storage and moving solution that is delivered to the customer’s residence and placed at ground level for easy packing and unpacking. For customers who are using the SAM as a short- or long-term storage unit, it can be stored onsite at their residence or at the dealer’s secure facility. For customers planning to move, SAM allows the customer as much time as they need to pack; then a SAM representative picks up and moves the container to the new location, again allowing customers the freedom to unpack at their leisure.
